3rd Sun of the Fourth Astral Moon

“Wynn has been acting weird for some time now. They have been writing in their little journal as if their life depends on it— and staring at me like they were trying to see my organs through my skin. Maybe it was research, since today they gave me a gift: an invention of theirs that should, with practice, help with my inability to channel aether. Hopefully it was... It's been unnerving, to say the least. Their lack of personal space and little need for sleep has not been a great combination for me.
To their credit… I did some exercises with the invention while they monitored, and I was able to make a coffee cup after a dozen or so attempts. I was even able to unmake it, which was fascinating. They said it was important to unmake things that are no longer in use, so that the aether can return to the world and not leave any coffee-cup-sized dents in it. While I think their invention was to help with magic and everyday usages of aether, I fear this might be a step above either... I've never heard of anyone who could summon objects. Familiars, yes, but not objects.
We worked on a few different kinds of items, and I’m getting there. It’s really interesting, you know, how it works, and what this means for me. I mean, there have been plenty of arts I wrote off before I could do them since I can’t channel aether. I’ve heard whisperings of a type of sword fighting involving a weapon called a “gunblade,” which uses aether bullets created by the blademaster. Maybe I’ll try that sometime, since I have these now.” You touched a tag-like thing that hung from the piercing in your ear. Hopefully you didn’t get rid of the other set... They were prettier. Shinier. “I just have to get the hang of it, I guess.”
